A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Daddy's Little Girl

As he passed through the distant doorway and out of sight, she was shattered with sadness.  My heart wept for my little girl as she sobbed into my t-shirt, her little shoulders heaving.  Three days seems an eternity for an eight-year-old.  We stood together and watched his plane taxi out of sight and figured the only way to salvage the day was with a trip to Ben and Jerry's on Church Street in honor of Dad's business trip.  A scoop of cookie dough on a cone with a dish, kept her going for the afternoon. (She is her father's daughter!)
A few hours later and bed time brought a fresh wave of despair, remedied with his t-shirt (that still smells like him) to sleep with and a giggle about the little hairs on his ears.  (side note...Lennon has always loved earlobes, they are usually cold and just the right size for her to hold on to when she cuddles.  This earlobe snuggle is usually accompanied by her trademark hum, which can be heard in her family-famous Fudge-Face video.)
We love you Daddy!!  Have a great time in Seattle, learn a lot, see a lot, do a lot.  And don't worry about us...we are all snuggling with your dirty t-shits and laughing at your body hair : )
